People Helping People Problem Solving: GEN AI Accelerated Learning Experience

For the past 10 years, the Caribbean STEM Coaching Club has been a trusted space for families to tap into the collective expertise and lived experiences of our members. Through open conversations and shared insights, we help each other navigate challenges and discover new opportunities in Parenting, Learning, Careers, and Family Finances.

In May 2025, we came together to share perspectives on the value to be derived from Generative AI.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

Overview of developments in Gen AI

Participants’ individual perspectives on Gen AI

  • It is the future! But also a lot of information to take in (new trainings and new promises) – so staying on top of relevant info in this space is a challenge but it has a lot of use cases and people need to get onboard with AI/ Gen Ai;
  • I am still learning but am amazed at what can be done;
  • I am using CoPilot to help me summarise papers that I must read for meetings;
  • I prefer apps that give info sources…more of them are out there these days;
  • OpenAI is one of several platform providers that deliver training now. It’s an arms race, and the danger is we can get overwhelmed with the volume of training available. What we’ll probably find is that curators will become more and more important over time;
  • I’m excited and also scared about the use of generative AI- I worry about the environmental impacts, the displacement of jobs, the fact that there is so much hype around this and that some of the producers of this technology are in my eyes awful e.g. Musk, Zuckerberg. The following is a good article on the cyber security risks around AI;

  • This could facilitate a streamlined mindset with little freedom for creativity. Similar to what people hear about North Korea- their way or the highway. I can also see this as an awesome tool;
  • Already feeling significantly behind. Need to find time to enter this sphere;
  • I’m already seeing posts from friends and family showing ‘news’ that is clearly fake, but very compelling;
  • People need education on how to spot the fakes;
  • I believe it has an incredible use if the correct questions are asked;
  • The learning opportunities arising from this are amazing. However, the worry must be in the accuracy and sources of the base information being fed into it – biases and group think are risks;
  • It’s incredible what AI can do. We need to be more intentional with what we are searching for. I believe it should be used for the greater good as it has a profound impact on the environment. Try not to be selfish. AI can do absolutely anything.

A few examples of how Caribbean STEM Coaching Club members have already derived value from Gen AI

Example 1 – Using Deep Seek to prepare the summary of a talk on YouTube

  • Here’s the prompt used. It can be modified if has have very specific goals or needs:

Please analyse this content and provide:

  • The core thesis or main argument presented;
  • All key principles and frameworks the expert introduces;
  • Specific actionable advice and techniques the audience can implement;
  • Important research, studies, or data cited to support all claims. (Provide links where possible)
  • Real-world examples and case studies that illustrate the concepts;
  • Common obstacles or challenges addressed and their solutions;
  • The expert’s unique insights or perspectives that distinguish their work;
  • Any step-by-step processes, exercises, or reflection questions included;
  • How the concepts connect to or form a cohesive system or methodology;
  • Key quotations that encapsulate essential teachings;
  • Please ensure that your analysis is based entirely on the content explicitly provided. Do not attempt to ‘fill in’, interpolate, or extrapolate data;
  • Do not imply that you have access to additional verbatim content from the original source if such information is not explicitly provided;
  • Present only conclusions that can be supported solely by the content provided;
  • Organise this information logically while maintaining the comprehensive nature of the content;
  • Note any particularly nuanced or complex ideas that require deeper explanation;
  • Present your analysis using UK (British) English.”

Example 2 – Using ChatGPT to manage personal health

  • I used Chat GPT to assess my risks of developing prostate cancer which it did very well. Prompting must be comprehensive. One can include information on your NHS App in the prompt.
  • A relative in the Caribbean has lymphoma. Her biopsy was sent to the US. The report that came back was incomprehensible to us – full of medical jargon.  I asked Chat GPT to analyse and describe the results in everyday language.  They did.  And what they said was exactly what the oncologist reported to us later.  So, Gen AI can possibly be useful to double check diagnoses.
  • I’ve used ChatGPT to interpret medical reports and to manage my torn meniscus while playing tennis.
  • I like the example of using Chat GPT to explain results. I also like Chat GPT for analysing data.
  • However, I would be very cautious of using ChatGPT by itself to provide health advice unless I was using a large language model based on health specific dataset verified by a human, rather than the general dataset of the internet which is what most ‘free’ large language models are drawn from.

Example 3 – Using Notebook LM to interrogate and understand complex and lengthy content, and as a learning tool to facilitate very fast and deep learning of new topics

Example 4 – Using AI as a career coach

Other examples

  1. Managing diary;
  2. Managing Spam E-mails;
  3. Preparing the minutes from Teams and Zoom calls;
  4. Using audio transcription for cloud recordings

AI Agents

There is a lot of potential value in AI Agents.  Anyone can build one. Find out more:
